At the foot of Namsan Hill, near the Han River, the Leeum Samsung
Museum of Art is dedicated to art and Korean culture. In this remarkable complex of three
buildings designed by architects Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel and Rem Koolhaas, traditional and
contemporary works coexist in harmony. For the Leeum, a synthesis between nature and
architecture, manages the delicate marriage of tradition, contemporary arts and education.
In the same vein, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) is located close to the
Gyeongbokgung Palace, home to the best of Korean art in a stunning building designed by
architect Mihn Hyun-jun.
