Situated in the heart of gardens ringed with a pine wood that is centuries old, the complex of religious buildings of the Temple of Heaven was built in the 15th Century. Erected to symbolise the links between the world of man and the divine world, through the relationship between heaven and earth, the buildings also celebrate the role of the Emperors. The representatives of the Ming and Qing dynasties made sacrifices there. With its conical or raised roofs, its flights of steps and its rich decorations, perfectly integrated into the landscape, the Temple of Heaven is a masterpiece of traditional architecture, ranked among UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
