MNAC

With a majestic setting atop Montjuïc hill, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya is housed in an expansive 1920s building, the Palau Nacional, set in front of some gorgeous fountains. The 250,000 works in its collection represent the main artistic trends dating from the 11th to the first half of the 20th century. The impressive section dedicated to Catalan Roman art is one of the most stunning in the world. Here you can admire pieces by Catalan artists from this period, who have often remained anonymous. Further on, in the rooms dedicated to the Renaissance, Baroque and Expressionism, you can find works by famous names such as Velázquez, Rubens and even Edvard Munch.
