Museum of Decorative Arts and Design

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs, founded in 1955, became the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design (MADD) in 2013. Following the name change was a major redesign of the exhibition spaces, notably a larger footprint when the old prison was opened to the public. The museum’s permanent and temporary collections benefit from an ideal setting: a magnificent 18th-century mansion. Throughout the rooms adorned with stunning woodwork, Hôtel de Lalande showcases furniture and decorative objects from the 17th to 19th centuries. There are also more modern designs that reflect the tastes of later trends and trendsetters.
