Between the historical walls of the Albert Dock, the history of one
of the largest ports in the world comes to life at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Located
on the banks of the Mersey, Liverpool has indeed been one of the epicenters of the British
transatlantic trade. Through its fascinating exhibitions, the museum shares the story as to
how the city of Liverpool was built upon vast quantities of cotton transported from the
United States to supply the domestic textile industry, and also of slave trafficking. It
also exhibits many ship models, in parallel with rich archives that allow visitors to
discover the city’s maritime history. Through a wide collection of artifacts, the museum
also details the history of the legendary ship registered in Liverpool which made history:
the Titanic.
