Highlights Magenta, Australia

Whale watching

When looking to watch some whales during a wintertime stay in the region, Wyrrabalong National Park in Magenta offers some fantastic vistas, particularly at Crackneck Lookout. All that’s needed to spot them as they meander north towards warmer waters is a sharp eye and, sometimes, a lot of patience. To attempt a stake-out without binoculars would be a shame, and warm clothing is recommended. The National Parks and Wildlife Service have launched a free app that helps users track sightings in real time and share their experiences. And whale-oriented events are frequently organised in celebration of these gentle ocean giants.
