The Dubai Souks

Famous for its extravagant shopping centres, Dubai has not forgotten its secular tradition of souks. Mosaics of colours, smells and folklore, the Dubai Souks take you away from the modernity that is all around you. The Naif Souk, right in the middle of Deira, is a neighbourhood in its own right, with a multitude of alleyways where it’s a pleasure to get lost. The Gold Souk, again in Deira, is completely dedicated to gold. Lastly, the Dubai Spice Souk, still called the Old Souk, is probably the most traditional and colourful market you’ll see, with spices from all four corners of the East and a wide selection of shisha tobacco.
