Thang Long Imperial City

Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2010, this vast site was the home of political, cultural and economic development of the capital for nearly thirteen centuries. The Thang Long Imperial City was built in the eleventh century by the Ly Viet Dynasty on the remains of a Chinese fortress in the heart of the rich Red River Valley. Spanning 18 hectares, the site is home to typical buildings featuring stone dragons. This is also where the flag tower is located with its octagonal structure and rosettes. Built in 1812, it is a symbol of the pride of the capital.
