Tate Modern & Tate Britain

Right in the heart of London, housed in the former Bankside power station, the Tate Modern presents modern and contemporary works of art from 1900 to the present day. From Chris Marker to Salvador Dali via Andy Warhol and Edward Hopper, the museum boasts an impressive collection of British and international art. An extension is due to open in 2016. On the other side of the river, the Tate Britain focuses on British works of art from 1500 to the present day. It is home to the biggest collection of its kind in the world, with the Yale Center for British Art. Its location in a former prison will also fascinate anybody interested in architecture.
