Hutongs of Beijing

A symbol of Beijing, the hutongs, narrow alleys and confined little streets, are filled with Siheyuan, the traditional houses. Renovated to cope with the rush to modernise, today the hutongs are places where it’s nice to wander and discover little shops or restaurants and their culinary treasures, all in an inspiring setting. The Hutong of Beijing association organises activities to preserve and share ancient Beijing culture: traditional cookery courses, days to discover their culture and history, discovering the hutongs by bicycle, and learning more about traditional local medicine.
