The Puri Lukisan is the oldest art museum on the island. It bears witness to Ubud’s important role in the emergence of modern art in Bali, distancing itself from religious subjects and scenes of the Royal Family, focusing more on the island's day-to-day life. Spread across its four pavilions, the Puri Lukisan’s collection is mainly dedicated to post-1930 paintings and wooden sculptures; it houses works by Ida Bagus Njana and Anak Agung Gde Sobrat. Showcasing the artistic style of the Ubud, Batuan, and Sanur schools, as well as Keliki and contemporary movements, the various local art trends will be revealed by the time you leave this temple of Fine Arts.
