Housed in the former castle of the Lérins monks, the Castre Museum is known for its artwork and objects from the Himalayas, Oceania and pre-Columbian America. Its collections nevertheless run the gamut from Greco-Roman antiquities that do justice to Cannes’ Mediterranean roots, to 19th-century works by local artists and Orientalist pieces. The highlight of your visit will be the collection of musical instruments from around the world, unless it’s the incredible panorama of La Croisette, the Bay of Cannes and the Lérins Islands – the reward for those who climb the 109 steps of the square tower that dates back to the 12th century.
