Travel through time at Musée d’Aquitaine. The tools, statues, jewellery, pottery and coins discovered in the region shed light on what daily life was like, from the first inhabitants to the Gallo-Romans. The museum then explores the region’s historical and cultural distinctiveness: Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, the close ties with Great Britain, wine production, Bordeaux’s Gothic architecture and more. The exhibit highlights the city’s port as a major centre for transatlantic trade – put into perspective with a look at Bordeaux’s role during the dark period of slavery, but also with a vast collection of art from Africa and Oceania.
