Louvre Museum

The Louvre is undeniably the pride and joy of Paris’s museums. The iconic glass pyramid, designed by the Chinese architect, I. M. Pei, marks the entrance to this former royal palace. Inside, eight departments embrace collections dedicated to western art and ancient civilisations. In total, there are more than 460,000 exhibits spread over 60,000m2. They include masterpieces that need no introduction: Veronese’s Wedding at Cana, The Lacemaker by Vermeer, the Venus de Milo, The Raft of the Medusa by Géricault, and of course, the gem of gems, Leonardo de Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
