Hanoi Opera

Built in 1910, Hanoi Opera House was inspired by the Opera Garnier in Paris. A mecca of culture and also a popular backdrop for wedding photos, the site has also witnessed many historical events such as the birth of the Viet Minh Front and the adoption of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic in 1946. The Fine Arts Museum, in turn, is housed in a former Catholic School for girls. Along with paintings by Vietnamese masters, there are also collections dating back to prehistoric times, as well as exhibitions showcasing the development of traditional techniques such as lacquer work and painting on silk.
