Halles Castellane

Established in the 19th century, the Halles Castellane indoor market received a complete facelift in the early 2000s, marking the revival of downtown Montpellier. Just in front of Place de la Prefecture, these covered halls are home to around 30 food shops offering regional products daily: fruits and vegetables, meats and charcuteries, cheeses, fresh seafood, as well as gourmet grocer and delicatessen fare. The three-level building also houses several fashion boutiques. The streets around the market are filled with terrace cafes where you can take a shopping break and sit down with a drink or bite to eat.
