Inaugurated in 1847, the Galeries Royales in Brussels is one of the oldest covered passageways in Europe. Composed of three galleries ("Princes", "Queen" and "King"), the Galeries Royales is home to several restaurants (Ogenblik, Taverne du Passage), a beautiful library (Tropism), chocolate shops (Corné Port Royal), and a crystal boutique; its glass window displays are full of upscale accessories like those of the famous Belgian leather goods company, Delvaux. Long neglected, the Passage du Nord with its beautiful canopy and Baroque statues connects the Rue Neuve and Boulevard Adolphe Max shopping districts.
