Bemberg Foundation, Hôtel d'Assézat

Founded in 1995, the Bemberg Foundation unveils the private art collections of Argentine writer Georges Bemberg. The works are housed in Hôtel d'Assézat, an elegant 16th century mansion named after Pierre d'Assézat, a Toulouse magistrate who made his fortune in the natural dyes business. Recently restored, the building opens onto a magnificent courtyard with sumptuous decorations. The eclectic collection ranges from 17th century Flemish artists to Impressionists from the late 19th century. In the spotlight are more than 30 pieces by Pierre Bonnard, Bemberg's favourite artist. Besides paintings, the Foundation is particularly rich in antique furniture, bronzes and old books.
