For over 200 years, the 375-hectare English Garden has been Munich’s favourite recreational spot. It is one of Europe’s oldest and largest public parks. Along with plenty of space for sports and leisure, the garden offers an array of attractions. There are impressive city views from the hilltop Monopteros Temple, inspired by ancient Greece. Visitors can admire the 25m Chinese Tower and the Japanese Tea House, watch surfers ride the fast-flowing Eisbach River, and relax on the shores of Schwammerlweiher pond. After jogging, yoga or a game of football, several shady beer gardens make ideal spots for a rest.
