Matadero Madrid

This arts centre promotes experimental techniques and community involvement. El Matadero is housed within a huge renovated industrial complex that bears witness to the architectural prowess of the beginning of the last century. These buildings, designed by Luis Bellido, were once home to Madrid’s animal market and slaughterhouse. Today, they are dedicated to the visual arts, the performing arts, design and literature. As well as an exhibition space covering 4,000m2, El Matadero also features a large square which is used as a venue for open-air concerts and performances, with an unashamedly alternative and cutting-edge programme.
