Shopping Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Central Market

Right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, a stone’s throw away from Chinatown, the Central Market is well worth a visit. Listed as a Malaysian heritage site, it was built in 1888 and houses three floors of stalls. This old market originally sold fresh produce, but now sells local and regional crafts and souvenirs, including some stunning textiles, including songket, batik and kebaya, the traditional blouse-dress. Modern designers haven’t been forgotten though, and behind the market there is an art gallery dedicated to Kuala Lumpur’s arts scene. Last but not least, on the ground floor you can visit the popular fish spa for a unique experience.
