Big Buddha

Situated between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach, at the top of Pratumnak Hill, sits a huge Buddha soaring 18 meters high. Big Buddha is its name, watching over the temple of Wat Phra Yai, which was built in the 1940s, before Pattaya became a resort. To reach the summit and approach the golden Buddha, one must climb a staircase decorated with golden dragons. With a peaceful Zen atmosphere, surrounded by sumptuous decor, wreaths and incense spirals, Wat Phra Yai Big Buddha temple exudes a sense of calm and serenity. The landmark is situated two kilometers south of the city.
