Big Buddha Phuket

Along a scenic road through a forest of rubber trees, then climbing across a hill, sits one of the major landmarks of Phuket: the Big Buddha. This impressive statue is dedicated to the present King of Thailand, soaring 45 meters high, perched upon a pedestal 25 meters in circumference; necessary to support the weight of its 135 tonnes of white Burmese marble! The sight, surrounded by tropical forest, is also appreciated for its 360° views of Phuket and the Andaman Sea. On a clear day, you can even see Phi Phi Island in the distance.
