Wat Arun

This landmark on the Chao Phraya River's west bank catches and reflects the first rays of the morning sun. Despite its name, Temple of Dawn, the night-time view from across the river is equally stunning. Many consider Wat Arun – with its elegant prangs (spires) covered in millions of tiny pieces of coloured porcelain – to be the most beautiful temple in Thailand. Also striking are the various shrines, ponds, white buildings and tiny walkways within the complex. The tallest tower offers scenic views of the winding river and the Grand Palace.
