Since the beginning of the 19th century, the two-hectare Viktualienmarkt (victuals market) in the Old Town has drawn locals and visitors alike with an array of culinary delights. Fruits and vegetables, flowers, tea, honey, spices, cheeses, pastries, sausages, fish, wine, gourmet delicacies from Bavaria and elsewhere... it’s all here. Sample regional specialities from the food stands, stock up for a picnic, stop for a coffee, or pay a visit to the large beer garden surrounded by vendor stalls. The market is open from 8am to 8pm every day, except Sundays and holidays.
