Walk in Vincent Van Gogh’s footsteps in nearby Nuenen, a village where the master lived and painted from 1883 to 1885. Start at Vincentre, which tells the story of his life and has many of his letters – but alas, no original paintings – on display.
The outdoor portion of the museum takes visitors to 23 spots, 14 of which he painted or sketched. The Van Gogh-Roosegaarde cycle path is a must-see, combining the poetry of two Dutch masters. Techno-light artist Daan Roosegaarde has embedded photoluminescent pebbles in a section of the route that, in the evening, shimmer in the Starry Night pattern.
