The Royal Palace

Surprisingly, you will not find the Royal Palace in the Place Royale in Brussels, although these two tourist attractions are located close to one another. The Royal Plaza is home to the former residence of the Dukes of Brabant (XI), then the Duke of Burgundy (XV), and now the Magritte Museum. The original 18th century building was expanded by Alphonse Balat under the reign of Leopold II. Its annex, which formerly welcomed distinguished guests, was transformed into a museum dedicated to the history of Belgium and the monarchy. Don’t miss a visit to the surrounding verdant Parc Royal.
