Work began on the Grand Palace back in the 18th century, under Rama I. The footprint and buildings have been reworked over the years by his descendants, giving it a totally different look. Take the opportunity to explore the most majestic monument in Bangkok. The palace is protected by stone-faced guards and was once the home of the crowned heads of the Kingdom of Siam. You’ll also find some amazing Buddhist temples here, like Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, and the famous Wat Phra Kaew. Inside the latter, the famous Emerald Buddha stands 11m tall, the masterpiece of this exquisitely decorated site.
