Salamanca is Madrid’s chicest district, not far from Gran Vía. Built at the same time as Manhattan in New York, this “barrio” is heaven for anybody fond of luxury boutiques. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Gucci, Vuitton, Armani and Manolo Blahnik... The biggest Spanish and international designers all showcase their wares in carefully designed window displays. Ferrari even has its own branch on Calle Serrano, also known as the Golden Mile. Salamanca also serves up some great food, with wine bars, bakeries and chocolate shops selling a range of fabulous and delicious products.
