National Museum

Next to the Lake Gardens, a huge building topped with a Minangkabau style roof has housed Malaysia’s National Museum since 1963. Its impressive collections unfold in exhibitions that tell visitors all about the nation’s history. You can discover Ming ceramics, traditional musical instruments, models, Malaysian knives and keris daggers, as well as an antique steam locomotive and the first cable car from Bukit Bendera, in Penang. Outside, the wooden palace of Sultan Zainal Abidin III has been moved to within the museum’s premises to top off your experience.
