Museo Nacional del Prado

The Prado towers up in the middle of the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid. Housed in a huge neo-classical building, lined with colonnades, the works of art in this gallery are spread over more than 40,000m2. Its collection of Spanish paintings is the biggest in the world. Dos de Mayo and Tres de Mayo by Goya, and Las Meninas by Vélazquez are the real gems in a series of masterpieces. The museum also contains Italian, French, German, Flemish and Dutch paintings, including The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, Raphael’s Madonna of the Rose, The Triumph of David by Poussin and Artemisia by Rembrandt.
