Maritime Museum

Founded in 1978, the Maritime Museum has its home in the 17th-century ‘Old Castle’, which was the main building of the Royal Fort of Sainte-Marguerite Island. Objects recovered from Roman and Saracen ships wrecked in the Lérins archipelago, Roman frescoes discovered on the island… its collections and explanatory scale models will fascinate lovers of archaeology. Covering the period from the 6th century BC to the 4th century AD – eight centuries of history – the excavations testify to a rich local heritage. The museum organises numerous temporary exhibitions throughout the year and offers activities for all ages.
