Gandhi Memorial Museum

After the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, the Indian state erected a museum in tribute to this philosopher and activist of an independent and modern India, known for his non-violent attitude. In the halls of the museum, many personal objects and documents, newspaper clippings, sound and audiovisual documents, and period photographs provide a clear understanding of this universal figure and measure Gandhi's impact upon Indian society. This moving place of pilgrimage is very popular with local Indians, who come here to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's legacy.
