The floating markets are a real must, with their stands perched on sampans or little pirogues on the water, a vital component of exotic, authentic Bangkok. Damnoen Saduak is the most photogenic of them all, with its picture-postcard atmosphere. Amphawa and Khlong Lat Mayom are the most typical, proudly flying the flag for Thai cuisine. Slightly more eccentric and a bit more touristy, Taling Chan is also the best preserved. If you fancy it, you can extend the experience by visiting the gardens and little villages that can often be found near the markets, on a trip on a traditional boat.
