Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)

The building that houses the Australian Centre for the Moving Image is one of the most impressive in bustling Federation Square, thanks to its kaleidoscopic architecture. The ACMI introduces visitors to the world of moving images. Discovered over a century ago, the process has given rise to cinema, television, the Internet and video games. “Screen Worlds” is a permanent exhibition that looks back at this exciting story. The ACMI also puts on temporary exhibitions that change regularly. The calendar of events also includes lots of live screenings, including for the Melbourne International Film Festival. The multimedia library boasts lots of Australian classics.
