Australian & Oceanic Art Gallery

The Australian & Oceanic Art Gallery in Port Douglas plays with eclecticism, intelligently showcasing contemporary art alongside Aboriginal culture. The Oceanic & Australian Art Gallery sells and exhibits works by local artists from the communities of Lockhart River, Mornington Island, Torres Strait, the Central and Western Desert in Australia. The gallery is also home to the works of many international contemporary artists. The paintings of Aboriginal youth from the Lockhart River Gang stand alongside those of the more traditional members of the Western Desert movement, and those of the Queensland and Torres Strait Artists.
