Set within a Victorian building and a contemporary extension with bold suspended wooden ceilings, the Auckland Art Gallery - Toi o Tamaki hosts the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in New Zealand. Within its vast exhibition halls, works of New Zealand artists such as Robert Aitken and Richard Gross rub shoulders with European artists such as Andreas Gursky and Juan Gris, and Pacific artists including Australians such as Maggie Napangardi Watson. Visitors can also discover the fine collections of Maori art. On the gallery’s top floor, a beautiful terrace strewn with contemporary sculptures and a café offers views of Albert Park.
