Atomium

He is the symbol of absolute faith in science that animated the country at the 1958 World Expo. Engineer André Waterkeyn reproduced the molecular structure of an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times. The nine balls of the Atomium, forming a sort of cube resting on its point, refers to the new provinces of the country. Initially constructed of aluminum, the structure has been replaced by stainless steel plates. It is possible to enter the building to visit thematic exhibitions, to eat at the in-house restaurant or just to enjoy the views from this building located 8 km from the city which rises 102 meters high.
